Timberghost
4 Day Preserve Timberghost Adventure Whitetail Deer HuntFrom $4,500 to $8,000
Iowa, United States • The Timberghost Adventure hunt is a new hunt package we are offering for the first time starting fall 2011. A cross between our free range archery hunts and our preserve trophy hunts, these hunts are designed for the serious archery hunter that wants a real opportunity at world class bucks with better odds than free range hunts can provide, but without a guide leading the way. We have 550 acres of some of the best whitetail habitat in Southeast Iowa that has been fenced and intensively managed for over a decade that is now dedicated to semi-guided archery only hunting. Yes, there will be no gun hunting on the property any longer. With deer taken over 225 typical and up to 250 non-typical from this property in the past, the genetics are second to none and the possibilities are limitless with the genetic pool on this property. There are roughly 40 ladder stands on the property and 15 ground blinds hunting travel corridors, food plots, and automatic feeders. We will take up to 4 hunters per week and there will be 2 hunters per guide. We will have active trail cameras on the property so hunters can look at up to date scouting information and talk to the guides about which stands are good for what winds in areas of recent activity. Hunters will be picked up for lunch if they want to come in and guides will prepare lunch and get them back out for evening hunt. After the evening hunt, hunters will head back to the lodge for dinner. These are 4 day/5 night hunts for mature bucks. The cost is determined by the week booked only and, unlike most preserves, there are no trophy fees to worry about. The last thing we want is to have someone worried about something other than making a great shot. If a hunter harvests a buck under 150 we will refund 25% of the hunt cost. A non-refundable $1,000 deposit is required to hold dates so please call for available dates.
4 Day Preserve Trophy Whitetail Deer HuntFrom $9,500 to $12,500
Iowa, United States • The result of a great management program is a trophy hunting environment without equal. Trophy hunts are what the preserve at Timberghost is managed for — mature world-class deer! Timberghost trophy hunters typically average over 190 for the year and the ranch produces numerous trophies over 250 every year. Our hunters have harvested several typicals over 200 up to 225 SCI and dozens of non-typicals over 200 SCI with our largest scoring just under 300 SCI. Hunters enjoy incredible hunting experiences for monster bucks throughout our 2 month trophy season taking high scoring bucks all the way through the end of season. At Timberghost, the hunting experience is as important as the size of your trophy, we strive for both to exceed your expectations. That is why our pricing is not based on the inch, but rather the week you come hunting. The later in the season, the less expensive the hunt. The last thing we want you worrying about when you get that buck of a lifetime in your sights is how much he is going to cost. We want you caught up in the exhilaration and thrill of the hunt that all of us search for every fall. Whether you are stand-hunting over food plots, rattling an old bruiser out of the thickets, or still-hunting the ridges as you search the hollows and bottoms you and your guide will hunt hard for 4 days and 5 nights for some of the largest deer in the nation!
Southwest Iowa Outfitters
Deer, Turkey HuntsFrom $3,250 to $5,250
Villisca • It is no secret that Iowa is the place to come for monster bucks. We are fortunate to have a lot of quality bucks and a large deer herd in our area. The chance to shoot a world class buck on your stay at Southwest Iowa Outfitters will be very high. We scout year round and have many tree stands set up in strategic locations throughout our properties. We do all the scouting from scouting deer activity, setting trail cameras, and looking for shed antlers. Iowa is not only known for having big bucks, it is also known for having big turkeys. The heaviest eastern wild turkey weighed just under 36 lbs and was killed in Southwest Iowa only about 40 minutes away from our lodge! The biggest turkey that we have taken weighed just over 27 lbs. Beards over 12 inches and spurs up to 2 inches are also not uncommon in southwest Iowa.
Iowa & Missouri Waterfowl Hunts
Iowa, United States • When people think of hunting waterfowl they usually think of Canada or Arkansas. However, from personal experience we think that Iowa is one of the greatest places to hunt ducks and geese. We are located in the Mississippi flyway with a lot of ducks, snow geese, canada geese, and some specks moving through. We also have a lot of local canada geese in our area that decoy easily. We have a lot of farm ponds with blinds on them. We also have a private wetland that is located only 4 miles away from a waterfowl/wildlife refuge area. This wetland includes a flooded cornfield with 2 roomy pit blinds. This wetland also has a generator that is connected to aerators located in the water in front of the blind so the water never freezes up around the decoys. (see pics of wetland below) We also have access to a 700 acre public hunting lake. This lake has about 40 acres of flooded timber that is outstanding for duck hunting.
