We will assist you in experiencing the thrill and adventure of a professionally guided wilderness elk hunt. These are wilderness fair chase hunts, not back yard ranch hunts. Idaho • Wolf hunts are definitely one of the more exciting hunts we offer. We have been interacting with these magnificent animals for a long time here in the Selway, and in our opinion, these hunts have been long overdue. These big game predators have had no fear of anyone until now and that adds up to a dangerous animal. We have lost loyal dogs and even a beloved mule to these animals. Idaho • Coyotes are plentiful in North Idaho. We hunt coyotes primarily in the lower elevations since the re-introduction of the wolf; the wolves have taken over the higher elevations preying on the coyote forcing the coyote to lower elevations. In result the Bobcat population has increased dramatically. We hunt Coyotes and Wolves by spot and stalk and/or by calling.

The forests provide year around security and forage, and also provides low elevation winter range. We have good numbers of elk in the area that spend their summers and fall in the high mountain area of the Idaho/Montana stateline, taking advantage of the timbered pockets, brushy hillsides, and meadows that make for superb elk habitat and security.

Idaho, United States • We manage our Elk area for trophy bulls, taking a very limited number of hunters per year - only eight archery hunters and just six rifle hunters. Weitas Creek Outfitters allows the harvest of mature 6-point-type bulls only. Deer, Bear, Wolf, or Cougar may also be taken during your Elk hunt. An applicable tag charge will apply; however, there will be no additional charges by Weitas Creek Outfitters. Weitas Creek's spring bear hunts will be operated out of the Weitas Guard Station camp. Most of the bear will be taken over baits; however, we do have some opportunity for the spot-and-stalk method of harvest. Idaho, United States • Fully guided elk hunts in the back country of Idaho by horseback. We have 500 private acres that are surrounded by natioanl forest and is only accessible by horse back or foot. This makes this area with very little hunting pressure. We harvest only 5×5 bulls or better out of this camp. Guide ratio is 1 guide to 2 hunters. Gourmet meals in camp with fresh pies made daily right out of the 1890′s wood cook stove. Our actual harvest on branch antlered bull is over 50% at the Gilmore Ranch. Which is better than double the average success. Expecting 50% harvest is realistic. Every year bulls between 350 and 400 B&C are harvested or seen in the area.

This is a combination hunt for elk, deer, bear, and wolf. $2,000 per hunter for camp only. $2,300 per hunter for drop camp with wrangler and horses. $2,800 per hunter for drop camp with wrangler and horses, cook and food. Idaho • The last few years have seen a large influx of elk from the North. Perhaps this is due to pressure from wolves. Why this occurred is unknown but the fact that they are here to stay is what is important to us. Herds of 50 to 250 are common on the winter range near the farms across the southern end of the unit. We also have wolves, but the elk herd in unit 45 is increasing. Like other elk herds in Idaho, these elk have changed their behavior and seem to like the proximity of farmland and tend to bunch up into larger groups earlier in the season. It has been a number of years now since unit 45 has had a spike hunt. The bull to cow ratio is excellent and the number of trophy bulls are increasing each year. Spring Cove Outfitters has been allocated two mule deer tags in Idaho's coveted unit 45 deer hunt. We are offering these two opportunities as six day, premium trophy mule deer hunts. These two hunts will have at least 1 on 1 guiding, and will most likely also include a scout.
