Healy • We hunt spring and fall Grizzly Bears, booked for 8 and 12 days in the field. - The advantages of a spring hunt are: weather, longer days and hide quality. - The fall hunt is also a great hunt and can be combined with either a Sheep, Moose, or Caribou. Our trophy moose hunts are conducted in the famous Wood River drainage. You'll be flown by bush plane to a remote airstrip where you'll be met by your guide and horses. From there a short 3 hour horseback ride will take you through a high mountain pass and drop you into a valley where your moose hunting adventure will commence the following day. Nikolai • Unimak Island is the first island in the Aleutian Island chain. This pristine wilderness is home to caribou, wolves and brown bear and a large concentration of migratory birds & marine mammals. Because of it's remote location, this windswept island offers some of the best brown bear hunting in Alaska, both in opportunity & size of trophy animals. Unimak is open every year for a fall and spring season hunt. A hunter must apply for their permit through a drawing conducted in December with results published in February. Spring bear hunts are conducted from camps close to the ocean beach where migrating gray whales wash up dead occasionally attracting bears to the carcasses. Twenty hours of day light in the spring enable hunters to extend their hunting efforts. Alaska • Arctic Alaska is an ecosystem largely covered by tundra and rock consisting of mountain ranges, river valleys and coastal plains which are home to Dall sheep, grizzly bears, caribou, moose, wolves, wolverines, and hundreds of species of birds and small game. The Alaskan Arctic is an area approximately the size of California bisected by the iconic Brooks Range, flanked on the south by the Yukon River Boreal Forest and on the north by the vast Coastal Plain and the Arctic Ocean. The Arctic is dominated by massive areas of Public Land. NPR-A is the largest area of public land in America and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is the largest protected area in America. Alaska, United States • Each hunt is scheduled for 1 or 2 hunters/guide. Generally 2 or 3 of us are in attendance for each booking of 2 or more hunters. Quoted fees cover all expenses on our part to conduct the hunt, fishing trip, etc. from pickup in Kotzebue or Kodiak to return with trophies. (A bush charter fee may apply, ask us for specifics.) Alaska Airlines provides daily service to & from Kotzebue & Kodiak - each guest is responsible for these arrangements - book early. It is important that you arrive on schedule as we charter aircraft to take new hunters to camp & pick up departing guests - same flight. A delay in arrival will be charged to those arriving late. I recommend air freighting rifle & critical gear to me via insured air freight - 2 weeks in advance of your arrival. Address your shipment to yourself, in care of me. Plan to arrive in Kotzebue or Kodiak the day before your hunt begins & overnight in a hotel before & after your hunt booking.
