I take a maximum of 2 hunters a year to keep my quality high. We can do muzzleloader in September or rifle in either of the 2 rifle seasons in the tail end of October.

First, local game counts confirm that you can expect to see a very high ratio of bucks to does. Also there appears to be a very high ratio of non-typical mule deer. Best of all, we have large whitetail and mule deer bucks. We adhere to the principles of “fair chase,” but within these bounds every effort is made to obtain the very best trophy available.

Wyoming • Our Mule Deer hunts take place in the famous Salt and Greys River Ranges of Western Wyoming. While the past few winters have been tough on deer populations, there are still a lot of great bucks to be found. The elk hunting in our area is the perfect mix of opportunity and trophy potential. Licenses can be drawn very easily and our hunters have a great chance at taking a great bull. While moose herds in a lot of Wyoming are on the decline, there are still some good bulls around. If you draw a tag, or are planning on drawing in the next few years – give us a call and book your hunt today! Another great hunt that we have available is an over-the-counter spring black bear hunt. This is a great spring hunt, and our area is known for having a good percentage of color phase bears. Come hunt them with a bow or rifle!

Chama • Grouse Mesa Outfitters specializes in horseback elk hunting. We operate on private land near Chama located in northern New Mexico's pristine mountains. The property, a 7,000 acre cattle ranch, and the surrounding area host a large population of elk. Currently, the statewide price for a private land bull elk tag is anywhere from 5 to 10 thousand dollars. We will sell our rifle bull tags for $5,500.00 a piece. Our services will provide a quality hunt in a wilderness atmosphere using horses while enjoying the comforts of a cabin. We will pick our clients up at a meeting point and transport them to the cabin for a 5 consecutive day hunt, with 6 nights lodging and meals provided. Each hunt will be guided with 1 guide for every 2 hunters. We will transport the hunters' game back to the cabin via horses and store it in a clean and safe spot for the duration of the hunt. At the end of the hunt we will transport the hunters and their game back to the meeting spot.
