I have been a huge fan of Altra boots since day one but don't take that as a form of bias. They have continued to up the game every year with better durability with the materials they use and the waterproofing has become as good as anything else out there.
These Timp GTX hikers are a treat to cover any terrain in. I am 6' 5" and 225 lbs so most people are blown away when I'm not wearing a big clunky pair of leather hikers. I haven't seen the need since I started wearing these types of boots. They promote stronger feet and ankles with the "zero drop" technology so I don't feel like I need the added support of tall lace up boots. They are super quiet and soft which has proven lethal on those stalks for big smart mule deer.
If you are looking for a great lightweight hiking boot with loads of room for your toes to spread out and enjoy all day comfort on those long hot days in the earlier season look no further.
