I bought this for an upcoming elk hunt. I was primarily interested in providing a solid rest for 2 youth hunters who are coming along on their first elk hunt. Their father, a friend of mine and a registered guide said he would carry it, he doesn't have a tag, but I didn't want to have a setup that was any heavier than necessary. This led me to choose this particular model. I have shot off of it several times now, printing groups around 4.5 inches at 300 yards with consistency. I also used it to confirm zero with 2 inline muzzle loaders. From a sitting position it is rock solid and much steadier than a bipod. From standing position it is not rock solid but I believe it to be much better than offhand, especially at ranges past 100 yards. I wish the carrying case was slightly larger to accommodate the rifle rest without requiring removing it from the arca mount. It also is a little bit slower to deploy than something like a trigger stick or bipod but I feel that the stability is worth it. If we have time to set it up elk are in big trouble. The kids have shot off it and they love it. My son has been eyeing it up for turkey hunting in the spring. It would be great for that, freeing up both hands for a slate or box call, especially when the birds are working slow. I have also used it as a gun vise for mounting a few scopes, it is that solid. I could see it being a really good addition to a ground blind, and I'm altogether happy with it.
