We will run our hunts as 5 days hunts, alternating camps to ensure minimal pressure on the herd, to ensure you have the best opportunity at a great whitetail. Note: Even though Steuben County allows the use of rifles during the firearms season, in an effort to minimize pressure and maximize safety on a property layout that most hunters don't know, we only allow the use of Shotgun and Muzzleloader during the firearms season. We have a 3rd camp in Greenwood, NY which consists of 300 acres. This property is available for DIY Style Hunts only & rifles are allowed. In late October and Early November wood ducks, mallards, blacks and other puddlers is what will typically fill the bag. As the season progresses and temperatures drop, big water hunts for divers and sea ducks begin, and we will hunt smaller marshes and private waters/land for migrating mallards and blacks. Canada geese are plentiful throughout the season, and on an average late season goose hunt we will see thousands of geese migrating in large flocks as they journey south. Field hunts for geese can also produce mixed bags with ducks, and on occasion snow geese may present yet another opportunity. We are in a "Flyway Highway", a main migration route for waterfowl as they migrate south. It is truly a waterfowler's paradise!

Cooperstown • Leatherstocking Guide Service is based in Central New York and the town of Milford which is about 10 miles south of the Baseball Hall of Fame and Cooperstown. We lease private land and have over 6000 acres available to hunt. The country here is a mix of farms, hardwood ridges and stands of hemlocks. We have lots of deer and big flocks of turkeys. Our DMP unit (4F) is open to rifle hunting and hunters are usually able to receive doe tags if you apply in the summer. We have over 100 treestands and ground blinds, and our guide service involves getting you to a pre-selected area and stand which is yours to hunt through the day. The guide does not stay with you, but we have aerial photos of each farm which we share with you. Lodging is provided in private homes on all hunts, as is breakfast. You are on your own for lunch and dinner and Cooperstown is only 15 minutes up the road!

Our goal is to keep the groups small to ensure you have the best chance at success. Our guides will pick you up each morning and bring you to a pre-scouted stand. Most of our stand sites are ladder or hang on stands situated on pinch points, travel corridors and food sources. Be prepared to spend several hours a day on stand.
