Montana • Sun Canyon Lodge and Outfitting in north-central Montana is nestled in the Rocky Mountain Front with the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex at our back door. You are able to access our Lodge by road or fly into Great Falls and we will come and pick you up. We have three back-country camps that are accessed by horseback. Our main elk camps are located six to eight hours into the Wilderness. Once there, you will be staying in very comfortable tent camps. The sleeping tents are 14 foot by 16 foot, equipped with cots and wood stoves. Family style meals will be prepared in a well furnished mess tent that is separate from all sleeping tents. Our mule deer camp is located seven miles into the Lewis and Clark National Forest. This camp is also set up similar to the Wilderness elk hunting camps. All three camps are set up early enabling them to be established and ready to go when you get here.

Montana • Most of our hunting is done by glassing, spotting, and stalking to within shooting distance. In the evenings we set up where the animals were seen and wait for them to feed to us or we stalk to where they are feeding. The guides who help us are seasoned hunters and realize the importance of a slow, quiet hunt. Although we cannot guarantee everyone will go home with an animal, our goal is for you to see game and have an enjoyable time. All buck deer have to be 4-points on both sides or better to be harvested. All of our hunts are six days of actual hunting with arrival on a Saturday, the hunt begins Sunday morning, and departure on the following Saturday morning. We will provide transportation to and from the Bozeman or Helena airport. You will be responsible for license fees, taxidermy fees and arrangements, meat processing and shipping. We will take care of the animal in the field and help skin or cap if necessary, but we DO NOT cut meat.

Oberlin • Cliff Creek Elk Hunts Our Cliff Creek camp is an early rifle hunt, meaning we hunt the elk in the rut. As in our White River base camp, these hunts are conducted during the bugle season for elk. A maximum of four hunters are taken here. They are fully-guided hunts with two guides and a cook provided. We can offer exclusive hunting for ducks and geese on numerous private fields, where birds are less wary... an excellent opportunity to hunt your limit of ducks and gesse with time leftover to photograph or video these magnificent migrations to share with family and friends back home. During the Fall migration, big northern Mallards flock into the Yellowstone River, and Greenheads work the corn like "Migs," providing plenty of action to go along with the geese. We use various methods and concealment tactics. My favorite is the layout coffin blind; its portability lets us travel to where the geese are feeding. Each Fall we dig some "stadium style seating" pit blinds.

We'll then travel each day to the 50,000 + ranch and hunt by 4x4 vehicles and on foot moving from vantage point to vantage point to locate that Montana buck of a lifetime. Mule Deer hunts population, unlike most of Western Montana, are going strong and don't have the challenge of wolves in their habit. Two Leggins Outfitters area traditionally harbors some real trophy Mule deer bucks and we only take mature bucks that are typically 4x4 unless it is a really nice 3x3 and there are some really nice quality Mule deer bucks. Whitetail Deer hunts - Here at Two Leggins Outfitters we have some excellent deer hunting available on the lower parts of the ranch and in the river bottom. This is again all private land where we hunt from blinds or vantage points from the high ground surrounding the river bottoms. Antelope hunts -There is always a couple weeks overlap of Deer and Antelope seasons.

This is real hunting with REAL wild birds. If you want to fill your limit in an hour then you need to pay more money and pretend that the fancy place you are hunting doesn't go out and place the birds in front of your path an hour before you get there. We hunt hard for our wild birds and can sleep at night telling the truth.

The ranch has archery zones where no rifle hunting is allowed in any season. This is an excellent chance to take a trophy whitetail or mule deer with a bow. These archery areas are open during archery (Sept.) and rifle season (Oct.-Nov.). In September archers can take a trophy whitetail because the bucks are relaxed and have distinct feeding and watering patterns near the barley and alfalfa fields. Every year we take some excellent bucks in the 130 - 160+ class. To ensure better trophies in the future we have changed our deer harvesting requirements as follows: Both Archery & Rifle deer must be a 4 x 4 and score over 125 points Boone & Crockett. A $500 fee will be assessed to the hunter for shooting an immature deer. This will hopefully enable us to meet our goal for all hunters to harvest a 150 point B & C whitetail trophy! During the 2 week rut period we accomodate both archery and rifle hunters. We have three rustic cabins available for hunters, all with electricity, microwave, small frigerator and coffee makers. In the lodge are 2 inside baths or an Outhouse is near the cabins. Also in the Lodge is a kitchen, living room, 2 big bedrooms and utility room for the hunters use. There are 3 restaurants in Augusta (1 mile away) that give you a flavor of the local history and people. It is very convenient for the hunters to beable to eat around their own hunting schedule.
