Montana High Country Tours, Inc
7 Day Rifle Opening Week Elk / Deer Combo Hunt From $3,950 to $4,550
Montana, United States • RIFLE HUNTING SEASON begins the last week of October and runs through November and coincides with the deer rut. We have a large resident herd of both elk and deer in our area. As the winter snow comes it causes more game to migrate into our valley, thus keeping us into game all season long. We are set up to be as mobile as the game; our lodge/ranch is at 6500’ elevation and our wilderness base camp is at 9000’ elevation. We have commercial hunting permits from the National Forest, BLM and Montana State Lands and also hunt several private ranches in our valley. The permits, private property, camps and lodge enable us to be in the right area at the right time for your hunt. We have a hard working, professional staff and A-1 top-notch equipment. Personal service is a must on all of our hunts. To insure this we limit the number of clients per week and have a low client to guide ratio, either 1 on 1 or 2 on 1, unless other arrangements are made. We have the exclusive commercial hunting rights to 250,000 acres of the Beaverhead National Forest, BLM, Montana State Lands and private property where the elevations range from 5,000 feet up to 11,000 feet. Our hunting terrain varies from wind swept peaks above timberline to heavily wooded forest areas, from open ridges and parks to sagebrush-covered hillsides and even dense willow covered river bottoms on private ranches. Our families have been hunting this same area for 3 generations. We have been outfitting in this area for 30 plus years, which totals to over 2250 days of guiding hunters in the same area. This gives you a real advantage in taking your trophy. Our guides have years of local hunting experience both archery and rifle and are experts in their field, giving you that extra edge. All of this translates into a high success rate for our hunters each year. We have a very high percentage of hunters that return year after year and will gladly provide references to anyone seriously considering one of our hunts.
6 Day Archery Elk / Deer Combo HuntFrom $3,750 to $4,350
Montana • ARCHERY HUNTING SEASON runs through September and the first half of October and coincides with the elk rut! There is nothing quite like the sound of a bugling herd bull and the thrill of working him in close enough for that ultimate archery shot. Our archery guides are experienced archery hunters themselves and have personally taken elk, deer, black bear, moose, antelope and mountain goat with the bow. We bugle, cow call, use decoys, ground blinds, tree stands, watering holes and feeding grounds when bow hunting. Archery hunting is not a sideline with us, it is our passion! We have a hard working, professional staff and A-1 top-notch equipment. Personal service is a must on all of our hunts. To insure this we limit the number of clients per week and have a low client to guide ratio, either 1 on 1 or 2 on 1, unless other arrangements are made. Wilderness Connection, Inc
General Season Rifle HuntStarting from $4,000
Montana, United States • Our hunting area north of Yellowstone National Park has one of the best elk populations in the state, largely due to the fact that private ranches provide year-round food and secure habitat. In addition, when inclement weather arrives between mid-October and Thanksgiving, the hunting is often considered the finest in the world! For an area that has such good elk hunting, the deer hunting isn't too bad either! Montana state regulations do not allow us to hunt mule deer during the last two weeks of our rifle season. Therefore, while our first few hunts are elk/mule deer combination hunts, the last two hunts are elk/whitetail combination hunts or elk only hunts. Since mule deer hunting is not allowed during the peak of the rut when they are most vulnerable, we shoot some dandies during the early stages of the rut during our first three weeks of hunting season. Average mature bucks would be 20 to 24 inches wide, although we have taken several in the 30 inch class. In addition, we have taken voluntary steps in the past 10 years to manage our deer and elk herds for larger animals
5 Day Guided Spring Bear HuntStarting from $3,000
Montana • We take a few spring black bear hunters each year in the Yellowstone area. The best time for hunts in this area is the last two weeks of May and the first week of June. Because of the altitude in this area, we are able to hunt later than most areas before the hides are rubbed too badly. Over the years we have killed quite a few good black bears, including several over six feet and a few nearer to seven feet. We hunt these bears in fair chase, as in all of our hunts, meaning we do not use dogs or bait. We spend early morning and late evening glassing for bears. When one is spotted, we plan a stalk that we hope will put us within gunshot of the bear. Using this method we have been able to consistently provide over 50% of our hunters with an opportunity to shoot a bear. I don't think you can hunt bears anywhere else in the United States and see the color variation as we have. Approximately 60% of our bears are black color phase; the remaining 40% will range anywhere from a light blonde to a dark chocolate color. Some black bears even take on the "silver-tip" color phase most commonly associated with grizzly bears. If you are not hunting bears during mid-day, you can fish or tour Yellowstone. Some hunters have used the opportunity to combine a family vacation with a bear hunting trip.
