Kanektok River Float Trip
As we begin our trip to the Kanektok River, we depart from Bethel, Alaska, and board floatplanes that take us to the interconnected Kagati and Pegati Lakes. These lakes are located in a glacial valley between the Eek and Ahklun Mountains. Kagati Lake is approximately 4 miles long and is connected to Pegati Lake at its western end. These lakes, which look like a pair of pants from above, flow into the Kanektok River, marking the beginning of your Kanektok River Float Trip with Alaska Rainbow Adventures. The river stretches more than 90 miles through some of Alaska's most pristine and untouched wilderness areas.
Our adventure begins as we set up camp along the river's banks and spend the next seven to ten days exploring the many recreational opportunities the area offers. From fishing to hiking, kayaking to birdwatching, we immerse ourselves in the wilderness, experiencing the beauty of nature firsthand.
The Kanektok River is a sanctuary for a diverse range of wildlife, including majestic brown bears, graceful moose, herds of caribou, and numerous bird species. The scenery is nothing short of breathtaking, with towering mountains, alpine meadows, and dense forests providing a picturesque backdrop to our adventure. The river's crystal-clear waters sparkle in the sunlight, making it perfect for photography and other recreational activities.
In short, the Kanektok River is a hidden gem in southwest Alaska, waiting to be explored. It offers an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and takes us on a journey to the heart of nature. Join us on this adventure, and together, let's discover the beauty of the Kanektok River.
