Montana River Outfitters is still in business and still very much in the guided fishing business. We will continue to have our shop in Great Falls and will renew our focus on guiding anglers on one day to multiple day trips on other waters in Montana, wilderness rivers in Montana and Idaho, raft and kayak rentals, retail sales, and exotic trips. The Smith River canyon is Montana's most beautiful backcountry trout river. This small, spring fed river has excellent hatches, including Stoneflies, Brown Drakes, PMD's, Caddis, and Tricos, but the nature of the water also favors attractor patterns and terrestrials. It is ideal water for the beginners to catch trout. The Dearborn can only be floated seasonally during the high water period of May into June and sometimes early July. It features spectacular views, moderate whitewater, and excellent fishing for rainbows, browns and some cutthroats.
