Description

The early season (1st split) of our duck season in October is prime time for early migrating birds. Wood ducks are our most popular birds in the bag in early October, but most hunts will have bags that also consist of other species, such as mallards, blacks, green and blue winged teal, pintail, wigeon, and sometimes the occasional diver! We have even harvested Brant during our early season duck hunts! Trophy drake wood ducks with spectacular plumage are very common, and are usually the target of most of our early season hunters. We spend a lot of time hunting both private leases, and public water during the early season. Most of our public water during the early season is hunted from privately leased shoreline. There are times, when the conditions are right, where a field hunt can present itself as well. Our area of the state is a "Flyway Highway", and when these early migrators move through and mix with our resident ducks, the gunning is very good and makes for a fast paced hunt!

Pricing Details

The cost of $250 is for 1 person for 1 day of hunting. Hunts will end at 11am or when a limit is reached, whichever comes first. A deposit is required to reserve your dates. Add $25 per person for weekend dates.

At Black River Valley Outfitters, our guarantee is that we will do our absolute, very best, at putting you on the best possible location for obtaining whatever species of bird or fish you seek. Our goal is to not only make your trip successful, but to make it a fun experience that you will never forget. A Non-Refundable deposit is required for all trips to hold your date(s). Remaining balance is due before the 1st day of your trip. Our guarantee is that we will do our very best to put you on a successful and memorable hunt. We also do not "over book" hunts, so that we have proper time between groups and hunts to properly and thoroughly scout for each group, and each hunt. However, we cannot change things that are out of our control such as weather, hunting pressure etc. that is just hunting. We do our very best when scouting before your hunt, and will have "backup" locations pre-scouted before each hunt to help ensure a successful hunt. With the exception of spring snow goose hunts, If we, for any reason, have to cancel your hunt, we will issue a full refund if we cannot reschedule your group for a different day. Any deposits for hunts that are cancelled by the client or clients party, for any reason, will not be refunded. We will do everything we can to reschedule you or your group if possible, but hunts cancelled by the client(s) are non-refundable.

All hunts will go until 11:00 am, or until the bag limit is reached, whichever comes first. If this doesn't work for yourself or your group, or if you would like to participate in an afternoon or evening hunt, please ask and we will do our best to fulfill your requests! Please do not hesitate to ask any questions, or make any special requests prior to or after booking your hunt, as we strive to do our very best in tailoring our hunts to your needs!

Lodging, meals, car rentals, license, federal waterfowl stamp, and gratuities are NOT included in the hunt. We do offer packages with lodging and meals, call for availability and pricing.
