Southwestern Colorado Archery Elk

From timberline full of evergreen, untamed with blow downs of aspens, to sweet sage and ponderosa pines between dessert sands, the southwest corner of Colorado provides different terrain across thousands of feet of elevation with all landscapes calling for elk. Elk hunting is demanding, and although you may find success sitting 1/4 of a mile away from your trailer, camped in the National Forest, pressure will push the elk deeper, and the only thing that's going to make that experience worthwhile and painless is using gear that will help you find the success that most won't. As an elk, mule deer, and black bear guide in Colorado, fine-tuned by my skills of hunting whitetail and turkey across Wisconsin and Michigan, I have learned of the different and also universal skills required to hunt different game, but none of that would be possible without the gear that helps me take that extra step each and every day. Elk hunting is relentless, you can go through a week of bugles or find no success until the last night, but whatever the story, the best thing I can do is to provide a list to help make your hunt that much more memorable.
