Quality glass is the most essential piece of equipment on the hunt. Leica is tough, holding up to all the drops, and the ability to range while glassing is a game-changer for long-range shooting. Nothing beats the Vortex warranty, but for the majority of my glassing, Leica is one of the best.
For heavyweight nothing beats the performance from Stone Glacier. Closer lighter trips the Sitka 4000 handles well and packs the meat out. When processing elk I like to remove the hide as soon as possible, cooling that meat makes for great meals. One Havalon blade can remain sharp for an entire animal, especially if you remove the hide with a fixed blade. I like to add one special touch to my gear with a custom knifemaker's handmade Damascus fixed-blade knife.
I am carry a custom forged fixed blade knife.
Scent-A-Way combined with fresh dirt wafers is a deadly combination when refreshed daily. The hoochie momma calls are by far the most authentic cow, calf sounds out there. When brushed in properly the double bull blind provides tons of room and scent cover for close-up encounters.
Peak ReFuel meals nailed it with taste and protein. The energy chews and protein bars are great for in between times to keep going.
Sitka Clothing is my favorite for the subalpine camo patterns. Being able to wear the same gear for over a week helps on the longer hunts while the lightweight tough fabrics hold up to the abuse making this clothing the second most important purchase you'll make behind glass.
Prime is a crisp solid compound bow that is a pleasure to shoot.
