Elk Foundation Hits Milestone

The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation continues to be a powerhouse in terms of its conservation efforts and on-the-ground results. Last week, the organization announced that it had reached a major milestone. The cumulative value of the RMEF’s conservation efforts have now topped $1 Billion.

That impressive number includes funds contributed by the RMEF, plus donations from partners that the organization has used in various project works. These projects include land protection and opening public access, habitat improvements, research, restoring elk populations and other grass-roots conservation work.

Since its founding in 1984, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation has been a pioneer in wildlife conservation. Their slogan, “Hunting is Conservation” embodies the understanding that sportsmen play a critical role in protecting the wildlife and the habitat that we all enjoy. The results of that understanding are tangible in their projects nationwide.

“This is an incredible milestone and testament to many people over a lot of years who are dedicated to ensuring the future of elk, elk habitat and conservation,” said David Allen, RMEF president and CEO in a recent press release. “We are extremely grateful for our passionate volunteers and members. While we recognize and celebrate this accomplishment, we will not take our foot off the gas pedal.”

With more than 200,000 members, 11,000 volunteers and chapters in more than 500 locations, it’s no wonder the organization has been successful in implementing so much value on the ground across elk country. And of course elk aren’t the only species that stand to benefit from all of that work.
